Our musicians have lower add-on rates, and this works well with ceremony musicians staying on into cocktail and dinner hour.

Since moving to Sydney in 2000, Jodie's own brand of light bluesy vocals combined with an atmospheric melding of Gospel and Classical influences has created a unique and fascinating jazz performance style. With some 20 years of performing behind her, being classically trained has allowed Jodie to adapt her talents to many different styles, Country, Musical Theatre, Soul, Disco, Motown and now Jazz. Influenced by numerous singers and songwriters from jazz, blues and soul traditions, Jodie has currently been spending much time working on her new Cocktail Jazz program giving each song her own unique stamp.

Jodie is the youngest of three girls: her father – a brass musician and mother – a retired music teacher.
At the age of 2½ Jodie surprised everyone by being able to read music, untaught. At the age of 3 she stood before an audience and provided a hilarious and unrehearsed rendition of Louie the Fly… “straight from rubbish tin to you!”. By the age of 5, she was singing, playing the violin and piano, and doing musical theatre solos in the very much acclaimed Rockhampton Eisteddfod. Thereafter, Jodie went on to perform across the state in festivals, contests, private concerts and Talent Quests. By the age of 10, Jodie had become a household name throughout Central Queensland, starring in several regional productions along the way.
As a teenager, she studied and sat for her Diplomas on Piano and Violin by the age of 17. At the age of 22, Jodie stepped away from her musical roots, to focus on a career in Event Marketing, gaining her B.Bus from CQU. After several years of coordinating such events as the Colonial George St Festival, Qld Day, the Opening Ceremony of the Marshall Sporting Complex and various fundraising events for several major charities, she decided to move to NSW to follow her vocal career.
In 2000 Jodie moved to Sydney where she quickly became part of girl group “Blush”, writing and arranging many of the charts herself. Their Motown sound and tight harmonies were appreciated by many clubs around Sydney, before dissolving and being reformed as “Deluxe”, with Jodie writing and directing an energetic disco show.
Since the birth of her sons, Jodie has been teaching piano, violin and singing from her private studio in Sydney. Future plans are centred on her first love, Cocktail Jazz.

Miss Jazz Duo provides wonderful background music to uplift your private party, wedding cocktail hour & reception dinner, company party, and social hour mixer throughout Sydney and surrounding regions. The Duo will play the right mix of instrumental piano and vocal songs to keep your atmosphere lively. They maintain the appropriate volume level never overpowering, so there is plenty of room for your conversations over the music. You can select the songs played from their song list or they will select a wonderful mix of styles for you. Requests welcome.

Miss Jazz Trio will share with you an intimate evening listening to Jodie’s soft crooning melody against the tinkling ivories of a piano and light drums. Great for Cocktails and Dinner Jazz, alike, they allow the conversation to flow while still allowing your guests the opportunity to go for a spin on the dance floor. Miss Jazz 4-Piece provides the Swingin’, quick steppin’ Jazz Groove required to get your party started. Made up of piano, acoustic bass, light drums and the exceptional vocals of Jodie Herbert, the group creates a more modern millennium feel to old and loved Jazz Standards as well as creating a vintage jazz ambience for your reception.
Miss Jazz Quintet adds that extra spice to your event. Similar in concept to the 4-Piece ensemble, the Quintet provides a Brass or Woodwind Jazz soloist for that Touch of Class that will keep your guests talking long after the day is over. Everybody loves a romantic Saxophone or a sizzling Clarinet. Nothing beats live music, and when Jodie scats along side an instrumental jazz artist, the success of your event will be a sealed deal.
Soulution Big Band (6-10 piece) Fun and classy reception music from up to a 10-piece band with full horn section and multiple lead vocals.
